Catch up on "Ohmygosh" quilt progress

My plan was to do these during our drive to Az, but I did not. I however did them in Az, but it was my last hand quilting project that I brought along. It took me about a week and a half. I did a lot of them poolside, balcony sitting or watching the the basketball games to the final four. Badgers made it to the final four, but lost...heart breaking.
I did think I was short a few blocks and when I got home I counted them and was short 7 blocks. So the last two days I finished the 7 blocks. I have been working on the the next step and am about 3/4 done of 446 blocks...mini 4 patches. So overall this quilt is coming along. Such a great project to do while watching/listening to TV.

I have heard this is a heavy quilt with all the pieces. So I am thinking I may just get some funnel and use that as the backing without batting. Then a simple quilting sitch. Als have some work shirts that I will use in the quilt with the half squares. Will try to use blues I think for that section. This is my hand sewing project so would like to take it down to AZ next winter/spring to work on. Not in favor of bring a sewing machine down that year.

Part one of block two

I began sewing these small four patches around the beginning of April. Just completed them yesterday and squared up the few final blocks. Now I will be ready to sew the four triangles to them and trim to 2 inches. I have decided to first do the shoe fly blocks those triangles in groups of ten and then see the four triangles to the four patches. This will give a bit more sewing variety. I however have several quilts waiting to be hand quilted so I may let this one rest a bit to do those. It is a good hand sewing project in the evening with Whiskers on my lap, so we will see. Here is a progress picture.

444 small blocks!
